We’re in the middle of a lot of business adjustments at the moment, sorting through the various projects we have planned, our website redesign, and making sure we begin this year with a focus on effective financial management to ensure our most successful year yet. We’ll be working on those administrative type tasks for quite some time to get them out of the way early this year, but we couldn’t stand the lack of a creative outlet so we started a new painting today!
LOS ANGELES – On November 1st, 2011 the artistic duo known as “dfrnt” proudly began releasing glimpses of their new series Land of Los Muertos, an original series that has been a long time aspiration held by the artists. Drawing upon the richness of their own cultures, dfrnt plans to bring this event out of the shadows through art. Follow dfrnt at dfrnt Times to keep up with their new work as it is released.
Here we are once again with our latest art video, celebrating El Dia de Los Muertos in our favorite way. This event is celebrated on November 1 & 2nd and is primarily about remembering those loved ones who have passed away. The video is available in HD, if you have a fast enough connection, change the resolution from 360p all the way up to 720p, and watch it full screen. Feel free to share this video online to bring this holiday out of the shadows. Oh, and a BIG thanks in advance to those who spread it around

Everything is ready for the final piece, just had some food, supplies are ready, I don’t have to work, lets go… Todo esta listo para el dibujo final, acabo de comer, tengo todo lo que necesito, no tengo que ir a trabajar, vamonos.
OK, so we were in the middle of our new Lead Burlesque piece when we realized we should probably switch over to working on our new Dia de Los Muertos illustration since it actually has a firm deadline. We are away from our painting studio so we’ll have to go ahead and stick with some good old fashioned graphite for this piece. I have to admit that its quickly becoming a favorite tool for us once again, its where most artists get their start, scribbling on lined paper during class and now going back to it seems new again. The new illustration is pretty far along, in our heads at least, now its time to put it down on paper.
So we heard about a design contest for Jarritos soda, and even though we should be working on our existing projects, we decided to give it a shot. There’s some memories this soda brings back, mainly spending summers in Mexico as a kid, so we thought, lets keep it simple, as usual, and just have some kids really enjoying their drinks. So after collaborating back and forth here’s what we came up with. The requirements were to use at least one of their bottle images, their official logo, and describe what it means to us through the image. It turns out we didn’t win but working on this image was good practice for a more complicated painting we have planned. Now that this is done, time to move on to the next project on our list….
Here we are again, another dfrnt piece, another dfrnt video. We put aside our precious acrylic & wood and went back to simple pencil & paper for this one. Be patient, it picks up in the middle, we wanted to have a little bit of regular speed pencil work so viewers get an idea of how slow this process actually is before we pick up the pace. And yes, that’s another Bomba Estereo track, if you haven’t added them to your music collection yet, you best get on that
P.S. If your internet connection is fast enough, feel free to watch it full screen in 720pHD, just change the setting after hitting play, it’s in the lower right area of the player, it might currently say 360p or 480p…
