LEAD BURLESQUE by dfrnt

by dfrnt on May 31, 2011 in Art

Here we are again, another dfrnt piece, another dfrnt video. We put aside our precious acrylic & wood and went back to simple pencil & paper for this one. Be patient, it picks up in the middle, we wanted to have a little bit of regular speed pencil work so viewers get an idea of how slow this process actually is before we pick up the pace. And yes, that’s another Bomba Estereo track, if you haven’t added them to your music collection yet, you best get on that :)
P.S. If your internet connection is fast enough, feel free to watch it full screen in 720pHD, just change the setting after hitting play, it’s in the lower right area of the player, it might currently say 360p or 480p…

Keeping it old school for our next piece

Just good old pencil and eraser… a fancy pencil and funny looking eraser we suppose, but still, just the basics.

dfrnt Exhibiting at Playhouse Hollywood

by dfrnt on May 22, 2011 in Art

This video is viewable in HD, after pressing play, set the resolution to 720pHD instead of the 360p or 480p its currently at, next to the lower right buttons. Select the appropriate resolution for your connection speed.

Above is another exhibition video from a recent show, this time we were part of an event created by RAW: natural born artists. To those who couldn’t attend, enjoy the video, and maybe we’ll see you at a future exhibition. The view is a lot less shaky in person.

This recaps our latest original painting, it’s for a burlesque show, hence the theme. It will also be on display tonight at the Playhouse in Hollywood along with 12 of our other paintings! It looks easy now, but it actually took days to paint, at least 6 long days which are documented on the video, not to mention almost two weeks to design and plan it before the actual painting part. The music is from one of our favorite bands, BOMBA ESTEREO, an inspiring favorite since we first heard em a few years ago, definitely buy that album, you won’t regret it. The piece will be on display this Thursday and Friday at our Hollywood & LA shows :)

PARKING FOR HOLLYWOOD PLAY HOUSE SHOW & DRESS CODE

Playhouse is in the heart of Hollywood and parking is not great there. Playhouse does not have its own parking lot, there is a lot behind Playhouse which I believe charges $10. There is also valet at the Playhouse. You might be able to find street parking in the surrounding areas. Dress code for guests is the usual for the Playhouse, clean upscale club wear. Act fast before tickets become unavailable because we’d love to see you there to catch up over drinks and art. Finally Starting the Actual Painting

by dfrnt on April 23, 2011 in Art

So we finally got our design all figured out, at least the linework, so it’s time to get to work on the actual painting. We still have to finalize the color palette, but that will have to wait til tomorrow since today is our day off, although I did manage to have Mia give me two hours today to get this initial inking pass done. This is our final work in progress image, the finished 24″ x 30″ painting will be on display May 5th and 6th at two separate art events, details coming tomorrow on both events, as well as invites.

NEVER STOP by dfrnt

by dfrnt on April 4, 2011 in Art

Our latest original painting, part of our Motivational Street Sign series, it’s the fifth in that series. We decided to document our process since it’s a bit unique in one major aspect. dfrnt is composed of two married artists collaborating on art under a single name, that’s not evident when staring at a finished piece so we thought this might help clear it up. We can go into much more here as to the whys and hows, but just enjoy the video for now. The music is off a great album, “Mexican Sessions Our Simple Sensational Sound” by Up, Bustle & Out. We highly recommend a purchase, you won’t regret it :)

We’ll eventually have all our latest work on a new website, so stay tuned.
